Alan’s ancestors came to Canada from Germany in the early 1870s, settled in Listowel, Ontario, and quickly started up a family owned and operated sawmill business.
As part of the 6th generation to work at the sawmill, Alan learned from a very early age about the importance of hard work, support for local community, and environmental stewardship.
Small business owners are the backbone of our local economies, creating good paying jobs for hardworking families and spurring the economic development necessary to support the lives we enjoy today here in Kitchener South–Hespeler.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Alan has worked with small and medium-sized business as an operations and strategy consultant. Working directly with small business owners and teams, Alan helps individuals grow their businesses and create good paying jobs for hard working Canadians.
He’s also provided his services through the BDC and Grant Thornton, where he launched a new service offering to help small businesses lower their emissions to reduce their carbon footprint and combat climate change.
A proud Canadian, Alan served his country as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces infantry reserves, serving both at home and abroad. He will be a tireless advocate for Canada’s veterans and men and women in uniform, and is a proud supporter and member of Legion Branch 272 in Hespeler.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Science in Technology Management at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he goaltended for the school’s NCAA hockey team. He’s also earned an MSc. in the environmental sciences as well as a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA), both from the University of Oxford.
